NARRA
Established 2009
Advancing collaboration, advocacy, and professional development
within the reptile animal welfare community.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To develop professional practices and procedures in the area of reptile and amphibian rescue and sheltering. To form a network of qualified reptile and amphibian rescues to assist member organizations and others in developing sound, humane reptile and amphibian rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering and adoption. To provide assistance to those individuals and organizations who wish to start a reptile and amphibian rescue or help an existing rescue to conform to NARRA's code of ethics.
CODE OF ETHICS
NARRA's member organizations abide by the following Code of Ethics in the operation of their rescue shelter and educational outreach.
We agree to:
The above Code of Ethics was established with a spirit of reasonable adherence. There will be circumstances that occasionally require a temporary change within any given rescue’s normal operations. The intent of the Code of Ethics is to describe the normal operations of our members.
We are actively seeking new members in the reptile rescue community, and encourage anyone interested in rescuing to consider joining. There is no membership fee at this time, only the request to abide by the Code of Ethics above.
Benefits of joining:
1) Professional networking
2) Support and advice from other rescues
3) Ability to refer people to other rescues that may be closer or have resources you don’t.
4) Professional pride in being a member of a national alliance.
Future plans: design a professional logo that relays our mission; obtain 501c(3) status that could be used as an umbrella for new rescues; professional development offerings online for rescues; an online library of resources for rescues
